Swim 4 Life

Last week Carla came to teach us some exciting swimming skills. The first time she came we did some free style and learnt some different ways to move through the water. On Tuesday we did some jelly fish and mushroom floats. The jelly fish float is when we dangle our arms and legs underneath our body. The mushroom float is when you tuck up into a ball and float. On Wednesday we learnt how to do the help position. To do the help position you put your arms down against your side and pull your knees up close to your body. You hold your knees there and tuck your chin into your chest. On Thursday we used the life jackets and learnt how to survive and keep warm in the ocean. On Friday we did sculling and sculling is not like sculling a drink. It's like scooping ice cream in the water. Finally we practised back stroke with the flutter boards. The curve on the bottom of the flutter board that's sort of like a smile should be facing your smile. We had a really exciting week and learnt lots of new things.Have a look at our photos below.

'I put jelly crystals in the mixer for the marshmallow and I got some help from Mum with the caramel. It was melted for the base and I put the jelly on top' ~ Jacqueline

Our visit to More FM

Yesterday morning Mr Prchal took us and two other kids from Room 3 down to the More FM studio to do a recording for a uniform ad. When we got there we were really nervous. We had butterflies! Our first recording was very confusing because we didn't know what to do. They gave us a tour around the More FM building. It was cold because it needs to be kept at a cool temperature so the equipment in the studio doesn't get too hot. There was three rooms the same and a recording studio. We were given an iced tea and a lollipop. It was a good opportunity for us to experience what it's like to be on the radio. Thank you Mr Prchal and More FM!!

Cuddles and Fluffy

These are our pet mice. The black and white mouse is called Fluffy and the brown and white mouse is called Cuddles. They like to eat things in their house, like their slide. They also like to throw all of their bedding out of the cage. They're really naughty!! When you get them out of their cage they will try to roll up into little balls so you can't see their faces. They like making tunnels in the cotton balls, in their sleeping area. If you put your finger through the cage Cuddles will try to nibble your finger. We love our mice because they are crazy and fun.

Our day with the Blues!!

Last Friday we walked down to Toll Stadium to participate in a training session with the Blues rugby team. The Blues introduced themselves by telling us their name and favourite flavour of ice cream. We even got to meet some of our favourite All Blacks and had our photo taken with the Webb Ellis Cup! At the end of the day we were each given a bag with a free ticket to the Blues v Hurricanes game, a bag of lollies, a wrist band and some information about the Blues. We had a very exciting day!!
